Our Pastor
Our Pastor, Dr. John Evans, is a graduate of Wheaton College,
Wheaton, Illinois (Bachelor of Arts); Gordon-Conwell Theological
Seminary, Hamilton, Massachusetts (Master of Divinity); and the
California Graduate School of Theology, Glendale, California (Doctor
of Ministry).
Pastor Evans has served six churches over the course of his
ministry. Having organized four of them. Sierra Springs, Your
"Church in the Country" has grown into a sizeable family under Dr.
Evans leadership since its "birth" 7 years ago.
Dr. Evans served for eleven years as the coordinator for "Gathering
Arizona in Prayer" (GAP), a fellowship of praying pastors from the
greater Sierra Vista area and Cochise County. The pastors have
been meeting together every week to pray for their ministries and
communities.

Dr. Evans' ministry emphasizes expository preaching, which seeks to communicate a biblical truth
supported by other biblical truths. At the heart of every message is a single, unifying theme. Each
message seeks to explain, interpret and apply that biblical truth to life.
The explanation addresses the question: "What is the writer of the Bible passage saying?" The
interpretation attempts to answer the question: "What is the meaning of what the writer is saying?"
Finally, the application seeks to bring the message home to the heart of the hearer; so that the
hearer says, "What am I going to do about what I've heard?"
